Almost A Week Later

Here it is Friday night. I remember when I was younger, that meant hitting the bars and having fun with my friends. Today it's different.

I'm working on a vampire book. It's an anthology with sixteen extremely good stories. I and my friend, Elyse, we are co-editing the book. There were literally hundreds of stories submitted and we went through every one of them and finally after a lot -- and I do mean a LOT of emails, we got it down to what we 'thought' was our final selection. Due to a glitch in the 'adding' machine, we thought we had 65k -- when in reality we were over 150k. The glitch was fixed and we weeded down some more. It hurt. There were some fantastic stories. We could almost have done three books!!!

Well, tonight I'm doing final edits on the stories. If I am lucky, maybe I'll get another 3 stories done. My main goal is to review grammar, spelling and punctuation. One thing I hate when reading a book is to see a glaring error. I'm sure there will be some mistakes but I really hope to keep it to a minimum.

I will probably get the edits done by Mon or Tues of next week, send them back to my co-editor and she will give it her last review, then back to me for a glance of anything she saw and then off -- yes, folks, OFF to the publisher.

This book is to see light of day -- can a vampire book do that? -- during Spring 2009! Whoo-hoo!

But my work isn't done. I have a chapter to write for a paranormal book coming out. I have to clean up my novel from NaNoWriMo for possible publication. I can't wait to get back on it. The book, '2012: Timeline Apocalypse' was fun to write and cleaning it up, tightening it, will be fun, too.

Well, back to the treadmill...
